Nitro Type improves Typing Speed

Help Your Students Improve Their Typing Speed!

The semester (and the year) is coming to an end and it’s likely that your class has successfully worked their way through the Typing.com curriculum.  Now that they are done with their typing lessons, how can you continue to reinforce their new skill on a weekly basis?

Wouldn’t it be great to have a typing game that is fun, builds their speed and accuracy, reinforces what they learned, and keeps them coming back for more?

That game is Typing.com’s sister program, Nitro Type.

Nitro Type

Nitro Type is a free multiplayer typing game where students who have learned keyboarding basics can reinforce their typing skills by competing in typing drag races against other evenly-matched typists. Students love the races so much they look forward to typing practice, with many of them managing to double their speed – what could be better than that?

As a bonus, Nitro Type has a teacher portal just like the Typing.com teacher portal you’ve come to know so well. All you need to do is sign up for your teacher account, add your class, and get your students racing.

Here are some of the ways Nitro Type teachers incorporate the typing game into their class:

  • “We run a Typing Madness in March that coincides with March Madness, where students compete against each other in a tournament bracket. Winner of student goes against teacher bracket.”
  • “If the typing goals that I have set are met, I save up about $100k in game each week to dish out to the students!”
  • “I like to race my students and we project me on a large screen and my student on the projector and the kids cheer along.”
  • “Leader board–I find out what cars they like and make my own garage on the bulletin board filled with “copies” of the cars. Students who finish Typing.com get to select a car for the leaderboard and then go to Nitro Type and race.”

Many standardized tests are moving to online formats, and students who are confident on the keyboard do better on those tests. Good typing is a skill that will serve your students for life and Nitro Type is here to help build those skills. Find out more here!
